Me Gusta Project

The Me Gusta Project is due next Monday, April 11, 2011. The directions and the grading rubric are posted in pvlearners and pasted below.

Me Gusta Project

You are going to create a project, which expresses your feelings about different activities or objects. You will use the verb gustar. You will write at least 10 sentences using gustar to express what you like and what you don’t like. This is a chance for you to tell the rest of us about who you are using your Spanish skills.

Your project must include the following:

  • Some type of visual aide – poster, collage, book, slide show, web site, etc.
  • You need to include a picture for each item that you include as a like or dislike.
  • You need to use the verb gustar in each of your 10 sentences. Be sure that you include a mixture of likes and dislikes. Also, be sure that you use both the singular and plural forms of gustar (gusta/gustan).
  • Use vocabulary you already know – Do NOT look up tons of words that no one else in the class will know!

Grading Rubric

· Did you include 10 sentences that each use the verb gustar?

· Did you include both negative and positive sentences (likes/dislikes)?

Current Events Directions

Over the next 6 weeks, each student will present a current event that relates to the Spanish speaking world. Students signed up for their dates during class today (April 4). The directions and the grading rubric for the current events are pasted below.

Spanish 1-2 Current Events Directions

One time this quarter, you will present a current event to the class. You must select an article that relates in some way to the Spanish speaking world. It can be about politics, sports, entertainment or whatever interests you as long as it relates to Spanish. You will need to do the following things:

1. Print out a copy of the article.

2. Write a 1 paragraph summary of the article. Your paragraph should also include your response to the article and the reason why you chose this particular article. Your paragraph should be well organized and free from grammatical errors.

3. Present your article to the class on the day that it is due. Briefly tell the class what the article was about, explain your opinion of the article and why you chose the article. Also, offer the other students the chance to comment on your current event.
