Monday, August 30, 2010 - Thanks for another great week last week. I appreciate all of your hard work.
Class Summary: *Warm up - new paper for the next two weeks *Everyone Is Unique Find Someone Who Activity *Listening Exercise - Introduction to new vocabulary for Unit 1 Lesson 1 on pages 36 and 37 *Block 1 - finished preliminary lesson quiz *Blocks 2 and 4 - Notes on stem changing verbs
Homework: *Copy Unit 1 Lesson 1 vocabulary from page 55 in the text or from the back of the workbook. *August Homework Calendars will be turned in tomorrow. *Tomorrow is a half day and it is picture day for all freshman, sophomores and juniors.

Friday, August 27, 2010 - Class Summary: *Warm up - Students turned in warm ups for the first two weeks of school. *Listening activity *Alphabet practice - Students continued to recite the alphabet. *Preliminary Lesson Quiz *Blocks 2 and 4 - Parent Letter regarding blog, pvlearners and infinite campus.
Homework: *Block 1 - None *Blocks 2 and 4 - Have parent letter signed and ready to turn in on Monday.

Thursday, August 26, 2010 - Class Summary: *warm up *listening exercise pages 10 - 11 *verb tic tac toe *vocabulary flashcard practice
Homework: *Study for the preliminary lesson quiz: vocabulary page 29, regular AR, ER and IR verbs and the following irregular verbs - ser, estar, hacer, tener and ir *Anyone who has not yet recited the alphabet will do that tomorrow.

Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - Class Summary: *Warm up *Students played bingo using the bingo cards that were created for homework last night. *Oral practice of vocabulary from page 29 and alphabet. This included pronunciation practice and partner quizzing. *Students took notes on irregular verbs. Block 1 - ser, estar and hacer. Block 2 - tener and ir. Block 4 - ser, estar, hacer, tener and ir. *Students continued to have their binders checked and to recite the alphabet in Spanish.
Homework: Write 2 sentences using each of the following verbs. Remember to use different subjects and remember to write advanced/compound sentences. -hacer -ser -estar -mirar -beber -tener
Reminders: *All students will need to recite the alphabet by this Friday. *If you haven't shown me your binder or sent me an email, please do that right away. *Don't forget to study for the quiz this Friday.

Tuesday, August 24, 2010 - Class Summary: *Warm Up *Oral Practice: vocabulary page 29, alphabet and counting *Students continued to submit their binders for the first binder check. *Students started reciting the alphabet. All students will need to do this by Friday, August 27, 2010. *Partner handout to review regular AR verbs *Block 2 - notes on ser, estar and hacer *Block 1 - partner vocabulary quizzing
Homework: *Block 1 - 6 sentences. Select 3 people and write two sentences about each person. I am looking for compound sentences. For examples, refer to yesterday's post. Bingo card - Spanish words on the front and 15 English translations and 10 pictures on the back.

Monday, August 23, 2010 - I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to all of you for a great first week. I know it is going to be a terrific semester.
Class Summary: Today students did the following things in class: *Warm Up *Assembled binders. The five tabs are: warm ups, vocabulario, verbos, apuntes and tarea. *Find Someone Who Activity - periods 1 and 2 only *Finished presenting dialogs *Practiced the alphabet and numbers *Turned in vocabulary lists from page 29
Homework: *Block 1 - None *Blocks 2 and 5: 6 Sentences - Select 3 people to write about and write two sentences to describe each person. Do not write 3 word sentences. Combine ideas. For example, "Juan es alto y tiene pelo rubio."

Friday, August 20, 2010 - Classwork: *Students practiced dialogs and presented them to me. Any students who have not yet presented will do that on Monday. *Students decorated their folders for this class. *Students copied the preliminary lesson vocabulary from page 29 in the text. *Students practiced counting and the alphabet.
Homework: *Students need a binder with 5 dividers by Monday. We will assemble the binders in class. *Students need to email me by tonight from their pvlearners accounts. My email address is wwilson@pvlearners.net *Students who did not finish copying the vocabulary, will need to complete that by Monday.

Thursday, August 19, 2010 - Class Summary: *Students had to time to practice dialogs with their partners. Presentations start tomorrow. *Class discussion about using www.classzone.com (the website that goes along with the textbook), this blog and the pvlearners website (for email and for creating and sharing documents). *Workbooks were given out. *Students started copying the Preliminary Lesson.

Wednesday, August 18, 2010 - Class Summary: -Students worked in pairs to develop their first dialogs. -There was a review discussion about pronouns and their meanings. -Students took notes on regular AR, ER and IR verbs as a part of a review from Spanish 1-2.

Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - Class Summary: All students should now have August homework calendars. Students completed the student interest inventory. Basic conversation practice with partners.
Homework: Write a minimum of 6 sentences about your likes and dislikes using me gusta and no me gusta. There should be at least 3 likes and 3 dislikes. I would really like to see some compound sentences such as I like _____, but I don't like _____. This is due tomorrow, Wednesday, August 18.
